Its always nice to see a mexican non-profit event well organized and successful, and I think that the Sharepoint Simposium is the perfect example for this.
I am delighted to see the level of adoption that Sharepoint currently has in Mexico, and how the platform is constantly gaining adepts and attracting the development community as an integral platform for all of their web initiatives.
I am happy to see that we have great talent to export from Mexico to the world in terms of creativity for sharepoint usage scenarios, webpart creation and good software quality and skills
I only wish we had more exposure than what we currently have, there is no doubt, we are not taking advantage of the fact that we are on the same time zone as the largest market in the world, and that we are a very atractive option for american companies that want to take the sharepoint platform seriously and bring their blue-out-of-the-box sharepoint experience to the next level.
During the event I had the opportunity and priviledge to meet Joel Oleson (yes... the Sharepoint Joel), and "share" some of the project experiences that we as Extend Solutions have had on our daily pursuing of happy systems on top of Sharepoint. From my conversations with him I conclude that we are not far from what our american folks are doing, experiencing, and the problems they are solving via Sharepoint. The difference is that we don't SHARE ! (good or bad news, we always keep our stuff for ourselves)
We will be collaborating with this awesome guy to continue developing the Mexican approach to the world for the sharepoint platform, and hopefully release a nice set of localized commercial webparts very soon.
Mexican sharepoint dev community: we have to arise from anonymity and start showing off our skills, experience, commitment to quality.
On the mean time, congratulations to the Sharepoint Community in Mexico, let's keep up the good work and initiatives.!
Thank you SP Joel for coming to Mexico and "sharing your points" with us.
